FAQS

Considering enrollment?

Here's answers to some of our most frequently asked questions

WHAT ARE THE PRE-REQUISTITES FOR BECOMING A PERMANENT COSMETIC ARTIST?

License requirements are determined by the state in which you want to practice. Because microblading and permanent makeup are both forms of cosmetic tattooing, they are usually regulated as general tattooing is. If you are an Idaho resident, you will find that the state does not regulate tattoos or body and has no licensing board or issue inspections.

As a result, there currently are no requirements for you to start practicing permanent makeup in the state of Idaho.

If you do not reside, or plan to practice in Idaho, it is your responsibility to check your legal requirements to be able to do so.

More info in other states can be found by reaching out to the local health department and/or occupational licensing.

Whether or not it's necessary in your state, you should still take a bloodborne pathogens course and become fully trained in the art of permanent makeup before you set up shop.

Our fundamental training includes a pre-course and certification in bloodborne pathogens.  â€‹

Otherwise the only pre-requisites would be:

A steady hand

Artistically inclined

A desire to grow and learn in a rapidly growing, exciting field

HOW MUCH IS BEGINNER TRAINING?

The PMB Beginner course is $4500. This includes 4 styles of brow application, and lash enhancement eyeliner tattooing. We offer lip blush training at the beginner level only when it added onto the fundamental course. The lip blush add-on training is discounted to $1500 at the time of enrollment.

We do offer full financing through Affirm. To finance all or some of your tuition, simply choose Affirm as your payment method at enrollment checkout.

I'M AM NOT A BOISE LOCAL, WHAT ARE THE NEAREST HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS?

Our PMB studio is located in the heart of Boise. We are close to food, drinks, and convenience stores. The nearest hotels are a quick Uber or cab ride away:

Springhill Suites by Marriot Boise  //  208-939-8266  //  2.9 miles  //  6 minute drive time

The Riverside Hotel  //  208-343-1871  //  3.7 miles  //  7 minute drive time

If you are not local to Boise and will be flying in, we highly suggest flying in the day before training, and not booking flights home until the day after.

WHAT DOES THE SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE DURING MY WEEK OF TRAINING?

Class runs 9am-6pm Monday-Friday.

On Saturday and Sunday we are either with models or completing additional Lip Blush training - therefore, both weekend days begin at 8am.

WILL I BE ABLE TO MAKE A RETURN ON MY INVESTMENT?

A career in Permanent Cosmetics can be a great income potentially... but it's not easy. Plan to lose sleep over a client at least once.

We fully intend to give you the best education we are able to, with the best support we can. Ultimately the amount of time, practice, and energy YOU put into your business will determine your success in the industry. It's not as easy as it looks, it's an art that takes time to fine-tune and perfect to find your style, but with the PMB curriculum and instructors we full believe we give you the tools to be very successful.

Our instructors don't just instruct, they perform cosmetic tattooing services on actual clients every day.

Microblading and other forms of Permanent Makeup are highly profitable and one of the fastest growing, most sought-after services in the beauty industry. Truly putting forth the time, energy, and effort pays off and with practice and dedication you CAN be very successful.

ANOTHER CLASS I'M LOOKING INTO IS ONLY 2-3 DAYS...WHY THE DIFFERENCE?

Find the right training for you. How serious about your business are you?  Truth be told, nobody is perfect at ANYTHING after 2 days of learning.

It is just not possible.

In the world of Permanent Cosmetics especially. There is so many other things to learn other than how to draw an eyebrow or what styles of eyeliner there is. Understanding Safety & Sanitation, Contraindications, Skin Theory,  color theory, Shaping & Design, and the best interest of your client as well as your business as a whole will undoubtably be the keys to your successes.

Give yourself the best head start that you can get, and plan to work diligently AFTER class to really perfect yourself.

Don't cheat yourself out of good training.

Shortcuts are not the way to begin your new business.

DO YOU OFFER PRIVATE TRAINING?

Both instructors at PMB strongly feel you benefit so much more in a group setting to learn this skillset. In a group setting, you have the ability to partner up and practice things like consultation, live mapping, and more. You have the benefit to hear questions others may ask, you may have not thought to question.

Though we firmly believe group training can be more successful that private for a beginner - that does not mean LARGE groups. We keep beginner classes very small so all students have lots of 1:1 time with instructors.
